Was there really any doubt about this? Kansas City is the highest-ranking city in Missouri on a new list of 2016’s Best & Worst Cities for Football Fans. Nationwide, Kansas City came in 32nd place.

WalletHub, who put together the list, says that they "compared 245 of the largest U.S. cities based on 18 key metrics, ranging from the number of NFL and college football teams to average ticket prices."

The cities in The Show-Me State that ranked were:

  • Kansas City (32)
  • St. Louis (103)
  • Cape Girardeau (145)
  • Springfield (196)
  • Columbia (207)

I was amazed to see how low Columbia ranked, and that St. Louis finished second in the state. While I don't know this, I would guess that the data was compiled before the recent news about the Rams moving back to California. The 2017 list might end up looking a lot different for Missouri.

Nationwide, the three best cities for football fans, according to WalletHub, are:

  • Green Bay, Wisconsin (1)
  • Clemson, South Carolina (2)
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (3)

The bottom three on the list of 245 cities:

  • East Hartford, Connecticut (243)
  • New Britain,Connecticut (244)
  • Kingston, Rhode Island (245)
