The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers fell just short of beating rival Warrensburg on Tuesday, falling 5-4 in a West Central Conference matchup.

S-C swept the doubles matches, but senior Rachael Meyer at No. 2 was the only winner in singles competition. The loss dropped S-C to 3-3 on the season.

The Smith-Cotton boys swimming team defeated Raytown South but lost to Warrensburg and Raytown High in Wednesday’s meet at Raytown High.

Top finishers for S-C: Peyton Camirand, first in one-meter diving; Felix Sultanov, second in one-meter diving and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke; Jeremy Acosta, second in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard individual medley; Joshua Osorio, second in 100-yard fly and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle; Mitchell Lake, fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley; Tim Spear, fifth in the 100-yard freestyle; and Andriy Usyk, fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.

In the relays, S-C’s team of Spear, Osorio, Acosta and Lake was third in the 200-yard medley; Mike Husyev, Spear, Usyk and Sultanov were third in the 200-yard freestyle relay; and Osorio, Usyk, Lake and Acosta were third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
