Larry Raymond Pummill, 72, of Sedalia passed away October 16, 2015 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO.  He was born on November 5, 1942 in Sedalia, the son of Lawrence Raymond Pummill, who preceded him in death and Wilma K. (Stone) Pummill, who survives of Sedalia.

On May 20, 1967 in Springfield, MO he was united in marriage to Minnie P. Burns, who survives of the home.

Larry graduated from Houstonia High School, Southwest Baptist College, and Southwest Missouri State College with a Bachelor’s degree in education. Larry was a member of Antioch Fellowship Church and was a member of Full-Gospel Business Men’s Association. He was a teacher and coach at LaMonte R-IV School District, Versailles R-II School District, Lincoln R-II School District, and also taught in the Vo-Tech Department at State Fair Community College.  Not only did he officiate for MSHSAA sports for many years, but served as the State Fair District Commissioner for the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) for 20 years.  Larry was also a founding member of the Smith-Cotton Athletic Booster Club (BINGO) serving many board positions.

In addition to being a teacher and coach he was an avid sports fan and coached many youth sports.  While he played softball until he was 60 years old and enjoyed watching the professional and collegiate teams; nothing gave him greater joy than watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports programs and could be seen on the sidelines and stands at many of their events.

Larry was owner and operator of Pummill’s Sporting Goods, Sedalia for 40 years.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Bret Pummill and his wife Lea of Warrensburg and a daughter, Kori Simons and her husband Richie of Sedalia; two brothers, Terry Pummill and his wife Robin of Springfield, and Gary Pummill of Sedalia; one sister, Jeanie Windes and her husband Bill of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren, Blake, Tori and Reileigh.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Celebration Center, 1701 W. 32nd St., Sedalia, with Rev. Kenny Cripe officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 20, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. also at the Celebration Center.

Burial will be at Houstonia Cemetery, Houstonia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Steve Wheeler, Larry Bybee, Kent Chamberlin, Rick Mills, and Dan Sevier.

Honorary bearers will be Ernie Dow, Dan Wissman, Herb Mittlehauser, Dennis Hagedorn, Leo Snelling, Jim Rissler, Dennis Thornton, Willis Charles, David McCandless, and Tom Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home  or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
