Laura “Laurie” Jean Suhr, 56, of Sedalia, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Burial will be in the Des Moines Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Born May 25, 1957 in Des Moines, IA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Alexander and Donna Gail Hess Monaco. She is survived by her children, Rita Waters (John), of Houston, TX and Randy Boles, of Sedalia; a brother, Larry Monaco (Vicki), of Panora, IA; her niece and nephews, Sarah Monaco, and Frank and Matt Monaco, all of Des Moines; and one grandson, Aaron Waters. She is also survived by a very special lady in her life, Lillian Barrick, of Sedalia.

Laurie worked as an announcer at KDRO – KPOW Radio for 25 years. She had a love for music, and enjoyed singing and composing. She had a big heart and was always there to reach out and lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
