League of Women’s Voters Holds Candidate Forum

Candidate ForumThe League of Women’s Voters in Pettis County held a candidate forum Tuesday night (March 25) in the council chambers of City Hall. The only candidates involved in the forum were those in contested races.

Mayoral Candidates at the forum were former Sedalia Mayor Allan Hawkins and Ward 1 Councilman Stephen Galliher. Ward 1 candidates Susan Daniels and James Cunningham, and Ward 3 candidates Donald Meier and Terry Cockrell were also in attendance. The moderator for the forum was Mary Merritt, who read the questions members of the audience supplied.

The forum was spirited at times, and at other times the answers given by some of the candidates were short. KSIS recorded the entire forum, and it will be played on Sedalia AM next week at a time that will be announced.

After the forum KSIS had an opportunity to talk to the moderator, Mary Merritt. Merritt said while some of the answers were short, she believes the forum was informative. Listen to the interview below.
