Leroy Nicholas Klein, 82

LeRoy Nicholas Klein, 82, formerly of Otterville, died Monday, May 6, 2013 in Paola, Kansas. He was born September 12, 1930, the son of Nicholas B. and Alice I. (Boyd) Klein. LeRoy and Donna Jo Richardson were united in marriage in 1952, and they celebrated over 50 years together. LeRoy enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He served his enlistment in Detroit ,Michigan and other bases before returning to civilian life as a carpenter and millwright. LeRoy was honored to serve his country and was proud of his Teamster Union affiliation. LeRoy was a life-long member of the Moose Lodge 1494 and he held various positions including Governor multiple terms and achieved the Pilgrim Degree. He was passionate about Moose causes and held a special place in his heart for his Moose Lodge friends. LeRoy was known for being true to his word. He had a keen sense of humor and if he really liked you he included you in his joking. He kept the pot stirring and his family and friends were always on the lookout for more joking. LeRoy's family was a very important part of his life. He showed his love for others continuously, and especially for his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those he knew and loved. LeRoy is survived by his son, Ricky Klein and his wife, Susan Davis, of North Carolina; his daughter, Rozanna M. Lordemann and her husband, Doug, of Kansas; his son, Randy C. Klein and his wife, Cheryl, of Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Amy M. Sanwick and her husband, Justin; Kelsey C. Knutson; Connor G. Knutson and Nichole M. Lordemann and loving pets, Emmy; Flash and Barney. LeRoy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Jo and many close friends. Graveside services will begin at 12:OOPM, weather permitting, Friday, May 10, 2013 at Crown Hill Cemetery. Please call Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home at 660-826-2622 if inclement conditions exist prior to 12:OOPM. Friends may pay last respects from 10:00 until 11:30AM at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow services. LeRoy's family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Hospice or Vintage Park Living Center LeRoy Fund in care of the funeral home.
