Internationally known country music star, Leroy Van Dyke, received an award from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The True Tiger Volunteer Award from the CAFNR Alumni Association was presented to Van Dyke on April 5 during the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ annual awards ceremony, Celebration of Excellence.

The True Tiger Award goes to an individual for recognition of significant contributions to CAFNR through their volunteer efforts and sincere dedication to the university.

Before his jump into the world of show business, Van Dyke earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri, focusing on animal husbandry and journalism, with a minor in speech.

According to a press release from the Universityof Missouri, Van Dyke was a member of the junior and senior livestock judging teams during his time at Mizzou. He served as a special agent in the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps in Korea before working as a journalist upon his return.

Van Dyke's participation in the Ag Unlimited Banquet each of the last 23 years, has helped UCM and CAFNR with it's success.
