I'm sure many of us remember the fun '80s comedy '9 to 5.'  It starred Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman. Now there's a great musical adaptation, done by Ms. Parton herself, and the best part is that you can see it right here in Sedalia, presented by the fine folks at the Liberty Center.

I don't know if there's anybody out there that hasn't been annoyed or frustrated by a boss.  It's something we can all relate to!  In the play, the main characters are pushed to the boiling point by their boss. So these three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do, even in a man's world.

Set in the late 1970's, 9 TO 5: The Musical is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, 9 TO 5: The Musical is about teaming up and taking care of business. The music and lyrics were written by Dolly Parton and the book by Patricia Resnick

I got to talk with the director of the show, Ben Jackson,  and two of the cast members, Ruth Schlomer and Shonda Schultz about the whole process.

Show dates are March 6-9 and 13-16, 2014. Tickets can be purchased at the Liberty Center, 111 West 5th Street or by calling (660) 827-3228.
