Liberty Theater Opens its 2016 Season on February 6
The Liberty Center Association for the Arts, Inc. is eager to share the newly renovated facility with the community during upcoming events in February. Saturday, February 6 will star the internationally recognized, Jeff Barnhart. At 2 p.m. three silent comedic films starring Buster Keaton will be shown with Barnhart playing live music. At 7:30 p.m. join us on the Liberty Center stage with Jeff’s Hot Piano Show.
Jeff Barnhart, of Mystic Connecticut, is an internationally renowned pianist, vocalist, arranger, bandleader, recording artist, composer, educator and entertainer. Jeff leads several bands in the UK: the Fryer-Barnhart International Jazz Band, which concentrates on hot music of the 1920’s, and Jeff Barnhart’s British Band, which performs small group swing of the 30’s and Jeff Barnhart and His Rhythm – The New Fats Waller Show. Due to his versatility, vast repertoire and vibrant energy, Barnhart is in increasing demand as a participant in international jazz events as either a soloist or as pianist in All-Star Jazz ensembles. In addition to his own label, Jazz Alive Records, Jeff plays piano and sings on the international labels GHB, Summit-World Jazz Records, Music Minus One, and the two largest jazz labels in the UK, Lake Records and P.E.K. Sound. Most recently, Jeff has joined the roster of artists featured on the Arbors Records label, with 4 recordings currently available: the most recent featuring jazz legends Bob Wilber and Bucky Pizzarelli.
The silent film matinee is only $5 per person and will be family friendly. The evening event would be a great Valentine’s Day night out with your significant other or a girl’s night out. “You Can’t Hear THIS on the Radio!
Jazz, Blues, Ragtime, Boogie-Woogie, Comedy, and Love Songs from the Great American Songbook,” said Barnhart. Tickets to the Hot Piano Show will be $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
Tickets are available at Wilken Music, 2nd and Ohio or beginning February 1 at the Liberty Center, 111 West 5th Street. These events sponsored by Wilken Music and the Cooney Endowment for the Arts.
