Linda R. (Wheat) Bird, 67
Linda R. (Wheat) Bird age 67 of Sedalia formerly of Kansas City, MO and Rolla, MO, died at her home in Sedalia, MO early Wednesday, April 2. 2014.
She was born August 16, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Edward M. and Ruth B. Wheat. She was preceded in death by both parents. Linda was united in marriage to Bruce R. Bird in Mission Hills, KS in 1982 who survives at home.
Linda's early education took place in Kansas City graduating from Paseo High School in 1964. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS in 1969. Linda started her thirty-four year career as an RN immediately following graduation from Bethany College at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, MO, first as a registered nurse then as hospital admitting nurse.
Following her marriage to Bruce, Linda was employed by Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO. Values held high by Linda included service to and care for others, mutual respect, forgiveness and trust. She always placed the feelings and welfare of others ahead of her own, wanting the best for all.
Linda's greatest joys in life were family, friends and her pets.
Linda is survived by her brother, Edward M. Wheat ll (Stella) of Sumrall, MS, sisters, Debra Williams of Sedalia and Sandra Delfenthal (George) of Prairie Village, KS, nephew, Walter Wheat (Heather) of Sumrall, MS and niece Jennifer Pratt of Sedalia and great niece Savannah Wheat of Sumrall, MS. Also surviving are her extended family including mother-in-law, Lorraine Arnwine, of Sedalia, sister-in-law Sandra Bird, of Springfield, MO, and brother-in-laws Bart and Mark Bird, both of Sedalia and nieces and nephews. Just as important to Linda were other family members including Guy Arnwine of Sedalia, Scott Arnwine of Springfield, MO, Arvella Jones (Robert) of Duluth, GA, John Arnwine (Jennifer) of Sedalia, Jeff Arnwine (Samantha) of Smithton, MO and Chad Arnwine of Sedalia and all nieces and nephews.
Linda was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Roberta Bird, of Sedalia. No public services are planned.
