Lone Star College Recognizes SFCC for Hurricane Relief
State Fair Community College staff recently received plaques and thank you notes from Lone Star College in Tomball, Texas, for coordinating Hurricane Harvey relief for its students and community.
Receiving plaques are Dr. Joe Gilgour, Student and Academic Support Services dean, Dana Kelchner, Marketing and Communications executive director, and Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president. The plaque inscription reads, “Do not underestimate a moment of kindness.
It has the power to change lives in ways you may never know.” With the help of the Sedalia School District 200, Ditzfeld Transfer, Inc., students and community members, two semi-trailers carried supplies to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
From left, Judy Parkhurst, Jerry Greer and Patty Wood, SFCC trustees; Gilgour, Kelchner and Anderson, Ron Wineinger, trustee, and Randall D. Eaton, board of trustees president.
In addition, KIX-105.7 broadcast live from the collection site on Sept. 6 to help promote the hurricane relief effort.
