Lorraine D. Raines, 92, of Sedalia, passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at
Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. James Betzen officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen Coulter, Bill Mayfield, Kevin Walker, Larry Grinstead, Gene Ferguson and Allen Fowler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Finell, Dennis Hagen, John Shawn and Joyce Grinstead. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow until 8p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Born December 6, 1919 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Elliott Dedrick. She was united in marriage to Max Gerald Raines, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1993. Also surviving are two daughters, Janice Raines Fethke and Carol Hall (Len), all of Sedalia; a daughter-in-law, Donna Raines, of Texas; a sister-in-law, Emma Lee Dedrick, of Chillicothe, MO; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, G. Wesley Raines; and two brothers, Jack Dedrick and Carl Dedrick.

Mrs. Raines was raised and educated in Sedalia and lived in Sedalia all of her life. She was a 1937
graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She and her husband owned and operated Sherff Truck Lines and Raines Freight Forwarding Services for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sedalia Circle 310 of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a long time volunteer for many organizations including the Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and Open Door Ministries.
