Lucille Mae Swafford, 91 of Sedalia, died on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home. She was born on August 19, 1921 in Cullison, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest Elston and Mabel Verna Allen Swafford.

Lucille was a lifelong resident of Sedalia. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1939. She attended Central Business Collegeand then worked in the office of Rice Leghorn Farm for eight years. She then worked in the accounting department of Town & Country Shoes before retiring in March, 1988 with thirty-eight years of service.

Lucille was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since April 23, 1933, where she served as church secretary, clerk, librarian and also as sunday school general secretary.

Lucille is survived by special friends, Frank and Patsy Gooch of Sedalia, sister-in-law, Jean Swafford of Albany, Missouri, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Rev. Earl F. Swafford and Elston Swafford and wife Earlene and one sister, Frances Marian Jones.

Lucille's family will receive friends from 12:30P.M. Monday, October 15, 2012 until service time at 1:30P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Chapman officiating. Pallbearers will be Roy Bryson, Gary Goff, Norman Klein, Carroll Howard, Merlin Balke and Scott Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Virginia Robinson, Judie Goff, Georgia Cagle, Erma Busing, Bobbie Balke, Margaret Whitcomb and Ethel Mangina. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
