Man Tased at Boonslick Library After Causing Disturbance

Police reports for July 22, 2016

Sedalia Police arrested Joshua D. McAlister, 31, homeless, after an incident that happened on Wednesday at 5:20 p.m. at Boonslick Regional Library, 219 W. 3rd. Police were called to the library on a report of an intoxicated subject threatening library staff and causing a peace disturbance. Upon arrival, an officer told McAlister to leave several times, and he refused. A struggle ensued between the officer and the suspect. Another officer then arrived and deployed his taser on McAlister. He was then taken into custody, transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center to be cleared for confinement, then to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold. McAlister was charged with 2nd degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Peace Disturbance and 2nd degree Trespassing.

Tylay R. Simon, 27, Sedalia, was arrested for 3rd degree Assault, two counsts of Failure to Appear-misdemeanor and Possession of Marijuana after Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance in the 1800 block of S. Kentucky on Thursday at 8:51 p.m. The victim said that Simon had threatened him with a handgun. Simon had two active warrants out of Pettis County. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $300 cash only bond.

John Paul Jones, 44, Sedalia, was arrested Wednesday night after Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance at Rest Haven in the 1800 block of S. Ingram. Jones was a family member visiting the facility when he allegedly caused a disturbance with the nursing staff. Police discovered that Jones had a Pettis County warrant for non-support. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $5,000 bond cash only, and a court date of Aug. 30.

Police took a hit-and-run report at the Sedalia Wal-Mart on Tuesday afternoon involving a red Chevy extended cab that had damage to the front left of the vehicle. The westbound truck allegedly hit a northbound vehicle, then left the scene. A witness followed the truck's tire marks to 4200 W. Main. Officers later made contact with the suspect and arrested the subject for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Proof of Insurance and Driving While Suspended. State charges are pending.

Police arrested Marcus W. Inman, 26, Sedalia, on Wednesday afternoon for Failure to Appear-misdemeanor after a warrant check revealed he was wanted out of Benton County. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $500 cash-only bond.

Kayla S. Ross, 22, Sedalia, was arrested for two counts of Failure to Appear-misdemeanor after police noticed she was stopped in the middle of the road on 16th street between Summit and Engineer. She was wanted for FTA out of Pettis County. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $160 cash-only bond.

Crystal G. Johnson, 39, Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Appear upon arrest or summons after a traffic stop on 16th street for expired plates. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $50 bond and a court date of Sept. 7.

Chelsea N. Byrd, 24, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked on Wednesday afternoon after she was stopped for failing to signal at Stewart and Broadway.

Mary R. Nandho, 42, Sweet Springs, was arrested Wednesday at Saline and Engineer for no taillight and Driving While Suspended. She was booked and released with a court date of Sept. 14.

Joseph W. Homan, 55, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked after a traffic stop for a minor violation at 12th and Osage at 12:50 a.m. Friday. He was issued a citation and a court date of Aug. 17.

Casey's, 1909 W. Main, reported a gas drive-off that occurred Wednesday at 6:13 p.m. Involving a white, 4-door car that left without paying for $22.95 in fuel.

Police took a report of a stolen bike from the 1400 block of E. 14th. It was a black, blue and white ”Kent Ambush” bicycle, taken sometime between Wednesday and Thursday. There are no suspects.

Police took a report of a stolen license plate that occurred near 5th and Ohio between 8 a.m. And 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
