Margie Rebecca Shaeffer, 92

Margie Rebecca Shaeffer, 92, of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Otterville and Sedalia, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born August 4, 1923, in Otterville, a daughter of the late William Frances and Lettie Belle (Homan) Speaker. On February 18, 1951, in Leeton, she married Clarence Shaeffer, who preceded her in death.

Margie was a 1941 graduate of Otterville High School. She received nurses training at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in the early 1940s. After marriage she lived on a farm for 20 years in Leeton. In the early 1960s she worked at a nursing home in Warrensburg.

She is survived by two children, Christopher Alan Shaeffer, of Lee’s Summit, and Lisa Marie Mulvey, of Warrensburg; and one granddaughter, Kayla Hope Shaeffer.

She was also preceded in death by two infant sons; and a brother, Lloyd L. Speaker.

Memorial service will be 2 pm, Tuesday, August 18, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ted Francis officiating. Visitation will be 1 pm until service time at the chapel. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville.
