Mayme Elizabeth Kunze, 86, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her home.

She was born June 14, 1927, in Wooldridge, a daughter of the late Emil F. and Rosa (Hekerman) Stock. Mayme was baptized in Pleasant Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wooldridge on June 19, 1927 by Pastor George A. Fleiss. On September 28, 1941, she was confirmed by Pastor Louis A. Hammonn. On May 16, 1948, in Boonville, she married William E. “Bill” Kunze. Bill preceded her in death on May 13, 2000.

Mrs. Kunze was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and was happiest when she was outside tending to her garden, flowers and yard. She enjoyed making painted quilts, fishing and traveling to Branson. She was a past volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by two children, Dale Kunze, and his wife, Charlotte, of Lee’s Summit, and Janice Hoos, of Sedalia; a sister, Lola Lenger, and her husband, Vernon, of Wooldridge; three grandchildren, Kim Karigan, and her husband, Tim, of Sedalia, Andy Hoos, and his wife, Jamie, of Green Ridge, and Greg Kunze, of Lee’s Summit; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Kailyn, Kamryn and Jackson Hoos, and Alex Karigan; her godchild and special niece, Connie Gerdt, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Stock.

Funeral service will be 1 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeremy Freeman officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Lenger, Jim Friedrich, Larry Friedrich, Mark Friedrich, David Kunze and Jack Bassar. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time.
