Mid-Missouri Outlaws Ready to Host Kansas City Renegades Saturday Night

The Mid-Missouri Outlaws are ready to come back home to the Mathewson Exhibition Center this Saturday, April 20. The Outlaws will take on their new and only in-state rival, the Kansas City Renegades. The Renegades come into this game 3-2 with wins over the Oklahoma Defenders, Wichita Wild and Kansas Koyotes in the last three weeks. The Outlaws have yet to win a game, but are looking to build momentum after last week’s loss 36-34 to Oklahoma.

Outlaws quarterback Kyle Christian threw for 169 yards with three touchdown passes and three interceptions in his first game. Christian threw the ball around as eight receivers caught passes, with Ronnie Celestine catching six for 34 yards and a touchdown and Josh Reid catching four for 40 yards. The Outlaws struggled in the rushing game without the services of Marcus James, who missed it for family reasons. Christian led the ground game with 33 yards, while Gary Helms and Charles McDonald had two apiece.

The Renegades have Carlos Cavanaugh at quarterback, who threw for 78 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in their last game against the Koyotes. Clinton Solomon and O.J. Simpson led the team in reception yardage as Solomon had five catches for 34 yards and Simpson had two catches for 13 yards. Keithen Valentine led the rushing game with 64 yards on the ground.

The Outlaws will be without the services of defensive lineman Jeff Clancy, who got injured when he recovered a ball in the end zone for a touchdown last week and was piled on top of by the Defender team. The Outlaws also will be without defensive back Colton Miller, with an undisclosed injury and running back Charles McDonald, who was ejected at the end of the fourth quarter for shoving a ref and was suspended for this weekends game.

Coach Jason Pallo says that players will have to step up to the challenge this week to take on the athletic Renegades, and hopes the crowd comes out to make as much noise as possible for this new rivalry.

In addition to the game, the Outlaws will be putting on a football clinic for the Special Olympics from noon to 3 p.m. at the Mathewson, while the Bootleggers are giving young girls the chance to dance with them at halftime with a dance clinic.  There will also be a few Wounded Warriors at the game too.
