The All-Star Game happened last week and a lot people have been very excited around here with how the Kansas City Royals have managed to stay in the hunt in the American League Central. Many Royals fans have long waited for meaningful baseball to played in the late summer months, now the question is can they catch on and keep momentum going. No team has really taken control of this division so far.

The Detroit Tigers are currently in first place (as of July 25) and some say with there pitching staff, they should be leaps and bounds ahead.  The Cleveland Indians are only three games back and have shown signs of improvement over the years. The Kansas City Royals are playing below .500 but they are only 7.5 games behind. The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox have struggled this year. The Twins are 11.5 games back and the White Sox are 15 games back.

The National League Central has been a hard division to figure out in recent years, but one thing you could rely on is that the Cardinals would finish first or second. They currently are in first place (as of July 25). The Pittsburgh Pirates have been the biggest surprise. They led the Division for a brief bit, but are now in second, just two games back. The Cincinnati Reds are in still in the hunt, in third, trailing the Cardinals by five games. The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers have their work cut out for them as the Cubs are 16.5 games back and the Brewers are 20.5 games back.

There are still about 70 games left in the season, so it should be fun to follow. Remember the St. Louis Cardinals broadcasts can be heard on Newstalk 1050 KSIS.
