Milburn Albert Miesner, 88, of Sedalia, formerly of Mora, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Fair View Nursing Home, Sedalia.  He was born on October 21, 1925, on the family farm near Mora, a son of Albert and Martha (Harms) Miesner.

He was raised on the family farm near Mora and attended elementary school at Pacific School and Holy Cross Lutheran School, graduating in 1939.  In 1943, he graduated from Cole Camp High School.

On October 10, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, he was united in marriage to Arleen Tieman, by Rev. J. Fritze.  This union was blessed with the gift of three children:  Joyce, Gary, and Ron.

Milburn was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, rural Cole Camp, where he was baptized on November 1, 1925, and confirmed on April 2, 1939.  He held many offices at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Lutheran School Association.  He was a charter member of both the Low German Club and CCHS Booster Club.  He loved to hunt, fish and watch sports, especially baseball and basketball.  He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the MU Tigers.

He had worked at Mora Lumber Company and was a carpenter for Borchers and Heimsoth Construction in Cole Camp.  He also farmed with his father and farmed part-time for 52 years. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Japan during World War II and in Okinawa during the Korean War.  He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp and The Carpenters Union Local #1492 and #945 for 60 years.  In 2010, he and Arleen moved to Winchester Meadows in Sedalia.

He is survived by:  his wife, Arleen Miesner of the home;
a daughter, Joyce Woods and her husband Carl of Derby, KS;
two sons, Gary Miesner and his wife Tammy of Branson and Ron Miesner and his wife Karen of Sedalia;
a sister, Glenna Kreisel and her husband Marvin;
five grandchildren, Joel Keasey and his wife Sonya, Julia Foster and her husband Gene, Jared Miesner and his wife Sarah, Gaysha Fevold and her husband Matthew, and Justin Miesner and his wife Sara;
nine great-grandchildren, Brittiany and Hannah Clark, Preston, Jessica, and Allison Keasey, Matthew and Abigail Miesner, and William and Sawyer Fevold;
seven step-grandchildren, thirteen step-great-grandchildren, and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha Miesner, a sister in infancy, Ethel Mae, and a brother in infancy, Harry.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, rural Cole Camp, with Pastor Michael Boothby officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, rural Cole Camp, with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, with visitation to follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lutheran School Association, or Our Savior Lutheran Radio Ministry in care of the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joel Keasey, Jared Miesner, Justin Miesner, Matthew Fevold, Gene Foster, and Rick Kreisel.
