Mildred Frances Rages, 98, of Sedalia, died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Highland Sacred Gardens with the Rev. Chad McMullin officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Broadway Presbyterian Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Born March 3, 1914 in Clifton City, MO, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. Rages, Sr. and Gertrude L. (Fischer) Rages. Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Boyd, of Ann Arbor, MI and Lillian Rages Barrick, of Sedalia; a nephew Bill Barrick, of Cole Camp, and 11 other nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Nell Fowler and Kathryn L. Fox; and one brother, Charles L. Rages, Jr.

Mrs. Rages attended Ionia Elementary School and was a 1932 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She received her degree at CMSU, with additional studies at the University of Illinois and Washington University. She was a school teacher for 40 years, starting her career in Hughesville and later moving to St. Charles, where she taught music for 28 years. She was active in educational organizations and was a member of the St. Charles Presbyterian Church choir for more than 30 years, and was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church in Sedalia. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, handwork and playing classical music.
