Nine people injured in a two-vehicle accident in Saline County Wednesday morning

At 10:30 Wednesday morning the Missouri State Highway patrol reported a two-vehicle injury accident on US Highway 65 at Lane 170 in Saline County. The accident reportedly occurred as a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by 16-year-old Mckinzey Breshears of Marshall failed to yield at the intersection, and struck the 2013 Chrysler Town and Country Van driven by 40-year-old David Gault of Atlanta Georgia, causing both vehicles to travel off the roadway. The Breshears vehicle came to rest in a ditch, while the Gualt vehicle came to rest in the median. Breshears suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital along with her passenger, 16-year-old Alex Green also of Marshall, who received minor injuries. A passenger in the Gualt Vehicle 66-year-old Shirley Gualt of Marshall was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital with moderate injuries The other six passengers in the Gualt vehicle including three children ages 3,4, and 6 were wearing seatbelts and suffered only minor injuries. All of the injured were taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital by EMA and private vehicles for treatment. Both vehicle were totaled in the crash.

Cole Camp man falling asleep at the wheel results in head-on collision this (Thursday) morning

Around 7:40 this (Thursday) morning 17-year-old Nickolas Cook of Cole Camp reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of the 1995 Mazda Protégé he was driving Eastbound on Route “H” East of Fire Tower Avenue in Benton County. The Missouri state Highway Patrol accident report states the Cook vehicle crossed the centerline, and struck a 2012 Ford Escape driven by 49-year-old Rebecca Schultz of Deepwater head-on.  Both drivers were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center by Staff For Life Air Ambulance with serious injuries. Both vehicles were totaled, and were towed from the scene.

52-year-old Warrensburg woman receives moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident

At 4:30 Wednesday afternoon the Missouri state Highway Patrol reported an injury accident, that occurred on Southeast 581 three tenths of a mile West of Southeast 601 in Johnson County. The accident happened according to the report when the driver of a 2013 Honda Metropolitan, 52-year-old Karen Strohmeyer of Warrensburg lost control in some loose gravel, causing the Metropolitan to fall onto its left side. Strohmeyer received moderate injuries in the accident, and was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment.
