Missouri Department of Conservation Encourages Christmas Tree Recycling [INTERVIEW]

Tree Mulcher

Now that your Christmas is over, you’ve got a little something to deal with, don’t you: that tree! The Missouri Department of Conservation is working with the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative and the City of Sedalia to help you recycle your Christmas tree.

Sedalia and Pettis County residents can drop off their trees at the parking lot by Liberty Park Stadium or by the Sedalia City Yard Waste drop off at 28th and New York.   The trees will be chipped into useful mulch.

I got to talk with Jake Willard from the Missouri Department of Conservation about how you should get your tree ready, where to drop it off, and what you can do after its recycled.

If you can’t make it out to the drop off sites, you can also have the Boy Scouts of Troop 54 come and pick up your tree. They’re doing a free curb side service on Saturday, Jan. 4.  If you want to get your tree picked up, call the Troop at 660-281-7306 anytime between now and Jan. 3.  If you need more information about the recycling, check out the Missouri Department of Conservation’s website. Jake wanted to be sure to thank all the great groups helping to make this possible, namely the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative, the City of Sedalia, Boy Scout Troop 54, and the Sedalia Parks and Recreation.

Happy Recycling,
Behka
