Missouri Patrol Seeks Driver Who Fatally Hit Scooter Rider
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in finding a driver who fled after hitting and killing a man on a scooter south of St. Louis.
The patrol says 44-year-old William Bentley was eastbound on Missouri 30 east of Missouri Route BB in Jefferson County when he was hit from behind shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.
The patrol says the scooter was found a couple hours later. Bentley's body was found 11 hours later in the weeds by a jogging, off-duty sheriff's deputy.
The patrol says it is looking for the driver of a white sport utility vehicle with damage to the front passenger side, saying it has recovered surveillance video from nearby businesses showing this vehicle just moments after the crash.
