The Home Economics Department at the Missouri State Fair conducted a stuffed-toy contest, sponsored by McDonald's, with the toys that are collected donated to the Sedalia Police Department after the 2018 Fair concludes.

The toys are used by officers to comfort children in times of stress when they respond to calls. The event took place on the Fair's Law Enforcement Day, (Saturday, Aug. 11).

Present for the occasion was Ronald McDonald, State Fair Queen Samantha Nelson, 18, of Higbee, Chuck  and Sefani Marshall, and Sedalia Police Officer Neva Overstreet.

According to the State Fair, exhibitors enter the toys in the contest, which then become the property of the Fair, for distribution to the SPD during encounters with kids in traumatic situations.
