Oak Grove man seriously injured in a Lafayette County accident Tuesday

Around 8:30pm Tuesday night the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle injury accident on US-24 Highway just East of 34th Street in Lafayette County. The accident reportedly occurred as the 2005 Ford driven by 18-year-old Joal Michael Carpenter of Oak Grove crossed the centerline, and struck a 2009 Freightliner driven by 26-year-old Robert A. Allee of Odessa. The accident report states the Allee vehicle then travelled off the roadway, and overturned coming to rest on its wheels. The Carpenter vehicle also travelled off the roadway before coming to rest. Carpenter suffered serious injuries in the crash, and was taken to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence by ambulance for treatment. Allee was transported by ambulance to Lafayette County Regional Hospital in Lexingfton for treatment of minor injuries. Both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, which totaled both vehicles.
