Three injuries reported in a Saline County accident Tuesday night

Around 11:30 Tuesday night the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported an injury accident on Southbound US-65 Highway at Route “H” in Saline County. According to the report the accident occurred as the 2005 Chevrolet driven by 43-year-old Carl H. Girard of Marshall changed lanes and started braking to make a left hand turn. A 2015 Ford driven by 22-year-old Kelby B. Case also of Marshall struck the Girard vehicle in the rear causing it to overturn, coming to rest on its top in the Median. The Case vehicle then travelled off the right side of the roadway and caught fire. Girard was not wearing a seat belt, and suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was taken to University Hospital in Columbia by Life Flight for treatment. Case and a passenger in his vehicle identified as 16-year-old Jonathan L. Scarborough of Marshall both received moderate injuries, and were transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital by Saline County EMS for treatment.

Johnson County accident reported at 7:50am Tuesday morning

At 7:50am Tuesday morning according to a Missouri State highway Patrol accident report, a 2000 Chevrolet driven by 31-year-old Jay J. Jefferson of Knob Noster crossed the centerline of Route “D” North of Southeast 100 Road in Johnson County. The accident report states the vehicle then travelled off the roadway, struck the ground, and came to rest in a ditch. Jefferson was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center by Johnson County EMS for treatment of minor injuries. The accident report also says Jefferson was wearing his seatbelt.

Lees Summit man has minor injuries after backing into a guardrail on I-70

Monday afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported there were no injuries after a 2012 Dodge Charger driven by 25-year-old Nicholas Perez of Lees Summit baked into a guardrail on I-70 at mile marker 81.4. The Charger was driven from the scene. The accident report states the accident caused $1500 in damages, but it was not clear if that was damage to the car, the guardrail or both.
