Four injuries reported in a Johnson County accident Wednesday afternoon

At 2:35pm Wednesday afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department reported a one vehicle injury accident on Missouri Highway-58 west of Southwest 701 road. According to the report the accident occurred as the 1993 Jeep driven by 18-year-old Zachery S. Stewart of Higginsville travelled off the right side of roadway. The report then states Stewart overcorrected causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway, where it struck a fence and a tree. The vehicle then overturned, and struck a second tree. Stewart and one of the occupants of the vehicle identified as 40-year-old Lisa A. Eckes of Warrensburg suffered serious injuries and were transported to Research Medical Center by air ambulance for treatment. Two other occupants of the vehicle 30-year-old Carol A. Mitchell of Holden and 21-year-old Courtney E. Hoag of Higginsville received moderate injuries, and were taken to Research Medical Center by Johnson County Ambulance for treatment. All of the injured were wearing seat belts according to the report.

44-year-old Grain Valley woman injured in a three-vehicle accident Wednesday

Around 4:18 Wednesday afternoon a 3-vehicle accident was reported on eastbound I-70 at Mile Marker 29.8 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to the accident report the accident happened as the 2002 Honda Sonata driven by Deborah K. Huber of Grain Valley travelled off the left side of the roadway, then returned to the roadway where it struck a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by 75-year-old Margaret A. Sorun of Norborne. The Sorun vehicle then travelled off the roadway and came to rest. The Huber vehicle then struck a 2005 Lincoln driven by 49-year-old Dana L. Defoe of Odessa. Huber was the only injury reported, and she was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. All three vehicles had moderate damage due to the crash.
