A Missouri-grown Christmas Tree went up in Missouri's Capitol today. The tree, grown outside Jackson, Mo., was donated by Steve and Teresa Meier of Meier Horse.

Shoe Pines and presented by the Meiers and the Missouri Christmas Tree Association.Second grade students from nearby South Callaway R-II Elementary School joined First Lady Nixon in thanking the Christmas Tree growers and in decorating the tree. Mrs. Nixon hung the first ornament, a commemorative piece from Meier Horse Shoe Pines. The students then worked with Mrs. Nixon to hang the ornaments they'd made in class on the tree.The tree will be on display on the second floor of the Capitol, outside the Governor's Office, throughout the holiday season.
