Monte Robert Dennis, 86, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born August 30, 1928 in Granite City, Illinois, son of Arthur Nathaniel and Zelma Matthews Dennis.
He married Tenny L. McEwan, July 1, 1961 in St. Louis, MO.

Monte attended Mark Twain Elementary and Beaumont High School in St. Louis and worked for the State of Missouri as a jobs security representative.

Monte enjoyed the companionship of his golf buddies, was an artist and enjoyed painting. He served as the president of the State Fair Statesman Mens Choral Group. He performed in several Liberty Center productions.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the military police at the Sugamo Prison in Tokyo, Japan.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Monte (Amy) Dennis, Jr., Columbia, IL and Mark Allen (Linda) Dennis, Sedalia; daughter, Cathy (Kenneth) Schlup, Sedalia; half brother, Glenn B. Reed, Jr., Springfield, IL; 2 half sisters, Audrey Dietiker, O’Fallon, MO and Zelma Hinkel, Kincaid, IL; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by grandson Theodore Dennis Schlup
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at Heckart Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association or Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
