Mules Golf Captures NCAA-II Super Regional Crown
The Central Missouri Mules fired a final round 285 on Wednesday to come from behind and win the NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional with a three-round total of five-under par 859 at The Club at Strawberry Creek. Freshman Robby Hughey won the individual crown with a 13-under par 203.
The Mules were the only team in the tournament to shoot all three round under 290 (287, 287, 285) and Hughey was the only individual to show all three rounds in the 60s as he won the individual title by four shots.
Travis Mays finished in a tie for 10th place after firing a one-over par 217, Teddy Jones finished tied for 14th one shot back. Cy Moritz finished in a tie for 47 th with a three-round total of 224 and Sam Migdal tied for 62nd with a 227.
Central Oklahoma finished in second place, five shots back of the Mules at even par, 864. Missouri-St. Louis was third followed by Bellarmine and Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The regional crown is the second straight for the Mules after capturing the Midwest/South Central regional title last year and their third championship in the last four years. Hughey's individual title is the first since Justin Yoder captured the crown in 2010.
The Mules now qualify for the NCAA-II Championships May 20-24 at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.
