Murder Charges Upgraded in Deaths of 2 in Kennett
Charges have been upgraded to first-degree murder in the deaths of two southeast Missouri residents who were run over by an SUV.
The Kennett Daily Dunklin Democrat reports that 25-year-old William Joshua Carter was originally charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of his 26-year-old wife, Heather Carter, and 25-year-old Aaron Campbell on June 17. Both died when an SUV allegedly driven by William Carter ran over them in Kennett.
The charge was upgraded Monday. On Tuesday, a judge approved Carter's request for a change of judge. The new judge will be appointed at a later date.
Police have not released a possible motive. Carter is jailed without bond.
