Reginald Singletary and Ziyad T. Abid of Warrensburg were arraigned in Johnson County Associate Circuit Court this afternoon on first degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection with the shooting of William “Blaine” Whitworth in Warrensburg on September 2.  While bond on Singletary, age 27,  was continued at $1 million, bond on Abid has been denied.  The 24-year-old Abid will be held without bond.

According to a statement from the Warrensburg Police Department, Johnson County Prosocuter Lynn Stoppy presented a motion for the court to consider that Abid was a flight risk.  After hearing testimony from Major Case Squad Member and Johnson County Sheriff Chuck Heiss and no rebuttal from Abid, Associate Court Judge Wanda Sue Dodson ruled that Abid would be held without bond.

Both men were transported back to the Johnson County Jail.  The Missouri Rural Case Squad continues to investigate the murder of Whitworth and has followed over 100 leads in the case.
