A Nebraska couple suffered moderate injuries after a bizarre accident that occurred in Saline County Friday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2015 Kenworth driven by 35-year-old Joel K. Fisher of Waverly, lost its dual tires while traveling on Highway 65 south of Afton Avenue at 12:31 p.m., striking a northbound 2012 Ford Escape, driven by Victor C. Green, 70, of Laurel, Nebraska. The Escape then traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and came to rest on its top.

Victor and his passenger, 66-year-old Charlene G. Green of Laurel, Nebraska both suffered moderate injuries and were taken by Saline County AMS to Carroll County Memorial Hospital. They were both wearing a safety device, according to the report.

The truck diver was apparently uninjured, according to the report.

The Escape was totaled and towed from the scene, while the Kenworth had minor damage and was driven from the scene.

Saline County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
