Nettie (Coleman) Mitchell, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

She was born March 11, in Spice Creek, Missouri, daughter of John Sr. and Alice Mason Coleman. She was married to Cye Casey, Sr. whom she had three children with along with a previous son.  On October 7, 1992, in Warrensburg, she married Leon Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell moved to Sedalia from Kansas City in 1951. She was a member of Hiland Baptist Church in Kansas City with the pastor of the late Rev. Stamp, Sr. and later Wards Memorial Baptist Church in Sedalia, where she was a member for over fifty years.  She sang in the church choir and was a mother on the mother's board.  She worked as a nurse's aide at Rest Haven and Fair View Nursing Homes. She enjoyed cooking, baking and singing.  Nettie was also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Richardson (Victor), of Waco, TX; a son, Cye Casey (Wanda), of Sedalia; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., at Wards Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Carr officiating. There will be no visitation.

Casket bearers will be her nephews and Herman Sims and Mark Kelly.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Wards Memorial Baptist Church.
