A fatal accident early Saturday morning claimed the life of a New Haven man, and seriously injured a Sedalia man.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 12:15 a.m. on August 13, a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by 27-year-old Joshua F. Blankenship of Sedalia, crossed the center line on US 50 east in Moniteau County and struck a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 20-year-old Graden D. Lovelace of New Haven. The Patrol says both vehicles caught fire after the collision.

Moniteau County Coroner Lloyd Fulks pronounced Lovelace dead at the scene. Blankenship was taken by Mid MO Ambulance, then Staff for Life, to University Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.
