Battson spent her childhood in Carrollton. While in college, her parents moved to Sedalia where her mother was employed as a librarian at Smith-Cotton High School and her father was the director of State Fair Community College’s career and technical center.

Randi graduated from Missouri Valley College, in Marshall, with two degrees; one in Mass Communication and the other in English.

With the City Council approval, the Sedalia Animal Shelter transitioned from being under the direction of the Sedalia Police Department, to a stand-alone department, on April 4th.

While the transition does not effect services provided by the shelter, the animal shelter will have direct input over their specific budgetary and operational policies, according to the City of Sedalia website.

The Sedalia Animal Shelter is located at 2420 South New York Avenue.
