The new year has arrived. Have you made any resolutions? I've got a couple, but I'm not saying what they are. (That way if I drop the ball, no one will know!) Outside of our personal goals, here are a few things all of us in Sedalia could resolve to do this year.

Don't get so stressed out when trying to make a left turn onto Thompson Blvd. from W. 10th St. Take a deep breath. The traffic will eventually clear and you'll get out.

Go out to a new restaurant. I've been here for over two years and I'm surprised at how many places I still haven't tried. Buffalo Wild Wings and Malone's Irish Pub are just a couple of the new restaurants that have recently opened in Sedalia.

Figure out, once and for all, how to pronounce "Dal-Wi-Mo Court."

See if you can find one last bargain at Kmart before it's closed for good. You've got to hurry on that one, the store closing sale is underway now.

Make this the year that you finally get to those local events or attractions you always say you're going to check out, but never do. Whatever it might be, if you've never been to the Scott Joplin Festival, or Rodeo at the State Fairgrounds, a Roadrunners basketball game, or visited the Bothwell Lodge or the Daum Museum, make it a point to cross it off your list this year.

Try not to lose so many discs at the Clover Dell Park disc golf course. Also, keep your cool if you see a snake. Don't panic. It's not crazy about seeing you, either.

Give back more in the new year. Volunteer to work the concession stand at your kids' ball games. Donate food to Open Door. Make a contribution to one of our great charities like Child Safe, CASA, Boys and Girls Clubs, or any of the causes you are passionate about.
