Norma Dene Vinyard, 78, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Rest Haven Convalescent Home.

Mrs. Vinyard was born Norma Dene Giggy on September 3, 1935, in Greenfield, MO to the late Oscar W. and Laura Mae (Ross) Giggy.

After receiving her Registered Nurse degree from Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, MO, she married Jack Albert Vinyard, who passed away on October 6, 2003. She practiced her nursing skills over the years in floor, surgical, and in home health care. She also earned her Masters degree in Sociology from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, and was a doctoral candidate at University of Missouri, Columbia.

Mrs. Vinyard is survived by two sons, Jack S. Vinyard, of Allen, TX, and William A. Vinyard, of Sedalia; a daughter, Susan Gray, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Nicole Vinyard, Elias Gray, Rachel Gray and Bob Vinyard; and a great-grandson, Harrison Jack Vinyard.

Graveside service will be 2 pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Crown Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Tony Chapman officiating. There will be no visitation.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Woolery and especially the nursing staff at Bothwell Home Hospice for their years of care and genuine concern.
