Lula Maydeane Young, 68, of Sedalia, died Sunday, December 22, 2013. She was born July 24, 1945, a daughter of Clarence and Lena (Sprinkles) Reed. Lula and Joe Young were united in marriage on June 19, 1965 in Sedalia. Joe survives at the home.

Lula graduated from College High School in Warrensburg in 1963. She worked as a cashier at IGA in Sedalia for 20 years before retiring in 1983.

Lula was an avid reader. She liked her flowers and had gardens and indoor plants she cared for. She loved animals and her grandsons were the love of her life.

Along with her husband, Lula is survived by her daughter, Susie Young; 2 grandsons, Ryan and Cody Collins; 3 sisters, Maudie Lueck of San Antonio, TX, Etta Ridgeway and her husband, Lyman, of Liberty, MO and Sandra Estes of Sedalia; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Lula was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Reed and her brother, Jack Reed.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Hinken, Stephan Ridgeway, Don Kerns, Rich Chambers, Bob Hiller and Mark Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donny Finch and Nelson "Bud" Hinken. Burial will follow in La Monte Cemetery.

Lula's family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the funeral home.
