William Harold Young, 81, of Liberty, formerly of Sedalia, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at North Kansas City Hospital.

He was born March 15, 1932, in Sedalia, a son of the late Donnie Albert and Ethel Mae Young. On August 5, 1950, in Sedalia, he was married to Jo Ann Humphrey, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2004.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City. He was a hard worker and knew his trade well. Upon retirement as a truck driver, he worked maintenance at William Jewell College and later worked for KC Auto Auction. He also worked in the catalog department at Montgomery Ward in Kansas City. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed Branson and the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. He enjoyed reunions and meals with family and friends. He was a fair weather Chiefs fan.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Alan Young (Tammy), of Sedalia, and Matthew A. Young, of Liberty; a sister, Lou Eva Burnett, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Billy J. Young and William H. Young, Jr.,; a daughter, Melody Ann Young; and three brothers, Forrest Charles “Corky”, Harry Albert, and James Edward.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, August 30, 2013, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Corbett Martin officiating. Pallbearers will be Willie Young, John Humphrey, Henry “Bo” Berry, Brett Lockard, Tyler French and Rocky Gonzales. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. tonight at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
