Ohio Truck Driver Injured After Falling Asleep at the Wheel

An Ohio man suffered minor injuries after he fell asleep at the wheel of his 1996 Freightliner while driving eastbound on I-70 just after 3 a.m. this morning in Saline County.

JohnW. Walls, 45, Oak Harbor, Ohio, ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, returned to the roadway, ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and turned over on its side. The Freightliner was totaled. The accident occurred at the 80.6 mile marker.

Walls was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident. He was transported to University Medical Center, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.
