Olan August Boatcher, Sr. age 89 of Sedalia died on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at his home.

He was born on September 24, 1925 in Sedalia son of August and Icy Mae Hurst Boatcher. On April 22, 1944 in Sedalia he married Nadine Vansell and she preceded him on September 30, 2004. Olan attended school in Sedalia. He served in the Navy during W W II. Olan worked a vending route for the Canteen Company and also built homes in Sedalia, some on Ohio St. and several on Kentucky including his own home.

He attended East Sedalia Baptist Church. Olan enjoyed working, taking care of his yard and garden. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Paulette Lewis (Lloyd) of Independence, one son, Olan August Boatcher, Jr. (Cheryl) of Sedalia, a companion, Anna Craig of Sedalia, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He was preceded by one brother, Otto Boatcher, four sisters, Clara Decker, Minnie Gibson, Lena Tetters, Ethel Hall and one granddaughter, Amy Wendt.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 25, 2015 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Corbett Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Vansell, Ronnie Vansell, Lloyd Lewis, Jr., Thomas Runyon, Tom Runyon, Toby Lewis and Austin Boatcher. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.

There will be Full Military Rites at graveside by V.F.W. Post 2591. Memorials may be given to Crossroads Hospice. You may leave condolences online at ewingschuttesemlerfh.com
