Sedalia Police recently arrested a man in connection to several home burglaries.

A press release from the Sedalia Police Department says that on the night of December 24, officers received a 911 call from the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive in reference to a home invasion which had occurred. Upon arrival, officers did not locate a suspect in the home, however they did locate a broken window which was identified as the point of entry.

The victim was reportedly home at the time and assaulted by the suspect. The male suspect stole several items from the victim. SPD says the the victim was able to flee from the home to safety.

Then on the evening of December 28, officers responded to a residence on Driftwood Drive in reference to a burglary. The homeowner was not home and no one was injured. Details of the burglary were captured on the home security system. A window was found to be broken and it was determined that is where entry was made into the home.

Later during the night of December 28, officers responded a few blocks away from the Driftwood Drive residence to a home on Honeysuckle in reference to another burglary. The victim reported she returned to home to find it had been ransacked and a window had been broken out. While preparing to call the police, the victim heard two suspects run from the home – one of them reportedly ran out the front door and the other back through the broken window.

The victim was not injured but several items were missing from the home.

Images from the surveillance video (Driftwood Drive) were posted on the SPD Facebook page to garner help in identifying the suspect. Several leads were followed up throughout the investigation.

Then on January 3, Detectives went to 1020 W. 3rd Street in Sedalia and contacted James "Jimmy" Elves.

Elves reportedly agreed to speak with police about the burglaries. Through the course of the interview, Detectives located evidence which linked Elves to all three burglaries. He was arrested and placed on a twenty-four hold.

On Friday (Jan 4), the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges against Elves:
