FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri man is dead and another is badly hurt after an all-terrain vehicle accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 221 in St. Francois County. Troopers say the ATV went out of control, left the road and struck a pole before flipping into a ditch.

The driver, 35-year-old Benjamin Nounce of Farmington, was flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries. A passenger, 34-year-old Jason Holbert of Ironton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
