One Man Killed in I-70 Wreck

A 57-year old man was killed on I-70 Monday afternoon after being ejected from a vehicle.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the wreck at 3:25, on I-70 Eastbound at the 48.9 mile marker in Lafayette County.

According to the online crash report, a 1999 Dodge lost control and slid off the roadway. The Dodge then overturned and ejected the driver, Alfredo G. Capote, of Miami, FL.

Capote was taken to Centerpoint Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

A passenger in the vehicle, 58-year old David R. Velasquez, of Grand Island, NE, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Centerpoint Hospital, by Higginsville EMS, for treatment.

The Dodge was totaled in the accident.
