Police and Fire respond to an Eastside fire early this (Monday) morning
At 1:11 this (Monday) morning Sedalia police and Sedalia fire responded to a house fire at 523 East Howard. The police report states the home was fully involved when they arrived. There was no one in the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
7-year-old Stillwell Kansas male seriously injured in a Gator Accident in Benton County
At 6:10 Sunday evening the Missouri State Highway patrol, and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one-vehicle accident at 26329 Georgetown Drive in Benton County. The accident happened according to the report as 7-year-old Benjamin Cowart of Stillwell Kansas was driving a John Deere Gator on private property. A pedestrian 7-year-old Joseph Renfro of Warrensburg reportedly fell down, and was struck by the Gator. Renfro was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for treatment of serious injuries.
Two Lincoln Nebraska males suffer serious injuries in a Saline County Accident
At 6 o’clock this (Monday) morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle injury accident, on Westbound I-70 at the 71-mile marker. The report states the accident occurred as the 2010 Dodge driven by 27 year old Christopher Walters of Lincoln Nebraska struck a tire in the roadway, ran off the road and overturned ejecting the passenger 25 year old Jake Reeves, also of Lincoln Nebraska. Both men suffered serious injuries, in the accident. Reeves was transported by staff of life to the Columbia Medical Center for treatment, and Walters was taken to Fitzgibbons Hospital in Marshal for treatment of his injuries.

Sedalia Police and Pettis County Sheriff's Report: Morning of Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
Paul and Kimberly Allen of Tebo Road reported that their home was burglarized while they were away yesterday. Approximately $5195 in electronics and jewelry was stolen.
Yesterday morning, Sedalia police went to the 1200 Block of South Carr as Stacey White reported someone she knows entered her home and took some money.
Robert Lantz of Windsor reported to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office that several building items had been stolen from his property between August 28th and September 5th.
Sedalia Police arrested Brandon Ulmer for failure to appear, bond set at $172.50 cash.
Sedalia Police arrested Samantha Martin for failure to appear on a shoplifting charge, bond set at $125.
Sedalia Police arrested Leslie Demand for driving while revoked.
A set of keys was found in the parking lot of Bank 21 at 1650 East Broadway and the keys were turned into the police.

Ameren UE pledges to put $5 million toward energy assistance programs for its customers over the next year. Company officials said the first $1 million will be for Ameren’s existing ‘Dollar More’ program. Ameren will use that to match dollars donated to the program by customers who want to lend a hand to others who are having trouble paying their bills. Historically, customers have donated about $700,000 a year to the program. The United Way works with about 40 human service agencies in the state to distribute the funds.

A woman who fell from a stairwell inside a bar in Columbia has been hospitalized. Authorities said the 19-year-old was listed in critical condition Sunday. She is under care at a Columbia hospital for fractures to the skull, neck and face. Initial tests showed a blood-alcohol content for the woman at .32 percent. That figure is four times the legal limit set for operation of a motor vehicle, police said. Reports indicate the woman seemingly fell over a railing for an inside stairway Saturday night. Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Two Kansas City area residents died this weekend in unrelated incidents at Lake of the Ozarks. Saturday afternoon, Corey Foley, age 24, of Raytown, drowned following his jump from an anchored boat. Foley tried to swim toward shore but went under water. Divers searched Saturday. The body was recovered Sunday morning, Missouri State Water Patrol officials said. A Lee’s Summit resident died Saturday night when standing on a boat’s engine hatch. Crystal Gudde, age 26, was getting ready to toss out a boat fender when the accident occurred.

At a South Broadway plant in St. Louis, 99.9 percent of the global supply of Tums is produced, where the familiar antacid has been produced for 80 years. Billions of the tablets have rolled off the lines at the five-story plant across from Busch Stadium, and this month marks the company’s 80th anniversary. Officials said the basic formula is the same as it was at the beginning, and it is the Number 1 selling antacid in the U.S. The St. Louis plant manufactured 4.7 billion Tums tablets in 24 flavors in 2009. Early next year, the Tums plant will also start making a fiber additive, Citrucel tablets, which may result in additional jobs at the St. Louis manufacturing site, officials said.

This week, a groundbreaking ceremony is set for a facility under construction for Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies. The plant, located in south Kansas City, will produce non-nuclear parts for nuclear weapons. It will employ 2,100 workers and replaces the existing Honeywell plant at Bannister Federal Complex. The new production site will be smaller and more efficient and is anticipated to save $100 million annually, according to federal officials. The operation is a private development and is forecast to generate $5.2 million a year in property tax revenue |
