Perryville Police Investigate Abduction Attempt Report

Police in the southeast Missouri town of Perryville are searching for a man after the near abduction of a child.

The Southeast Missourian reports that a 10-year-old girl was riding her bike Tuesday afternoon when a car pulled alongside her. Police say the driver told the girl her mother had sent him to pick her up. The girl was able to get away.

Jeri Cain of Perryville police says officers received a similar report last week, but the descriptions of the vehicle and the suspect in the two cases do not match. Still, officers are investigating for a possible connection.
