The Pettis County Sheriff has initiated a death investigation into remains found outside a residence south of Sedalia on Sunday afternoon.

Deputies were called to the Goodwill Chapel Trailer Park in the 26000 block of Goodwill Chapel Road about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Upon arrival, deputies located partial human remains outside the residence, prompting detectives to be dispatched for processing of the scene.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m., deputies discovered additional partial remains in a wooded area a short distance from the residence. At this time, it is unknown if these remains are an additional portion of the original discovery.

Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond and deputies remain on the scenes this evening and into the night, and the Crash Investigation Team from the Missouri State Highway Patrol has been requested to assist in the mapping the scene.

The remains will be transported to the Boone County Medical Examiners Office and an autopsy is expected to be conducted Monday or Tuesday.

Sheriff Bond urges anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Pettis County Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline at 660-827-TIPS, or call the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at 660-827-0052.
