Missouri State Representative Stanley Cox announced his candidacy for Pettis County Associate Circuit Judge Division 6 at a news conference at the Pettis County Court House this morning (Sept. 17). Cox has served as Missouri State Representative for the 18th and 52nd District for the last eight years. He has served on several committees including as Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Judiciary in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Cox said that with the retirement of current Judge Robert Liston, he felt it was an opportunity to continue in public service to the people of Pettis County. He went on to say he believes his experience in the Missouri House of Representatives on various boards and commissions and as an officer in the United States Army and the Missouri National Guard further qualify him for the position.

Cox is engaged in private law practice here in Sedalia. He graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia Law School in 1976. He is married to Kristeen Cox, and they have two adult children with three grandchildren. Cox’s last term with the Missouri House of Representatives will end at the end of 2014.
