Rev. Robert Lee Humphreys (Bro. Bob) joined his Lord and Savior and transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the age of 86 from his home in Sedalia.

Bob was born on November 6, 1928 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the third child of Claude and Lilly Korb Humphreys. He spent his childhood in Fairmont, attending Basehor High School and then graduating from Lansing High School. He met his wife of 64 years in Lansing and after a 3 1/2 year tour with the Army Air Corp he and Shirley L. Maxwell were married on March 9, 1951 in Lansing, Kansas and she survives of the home.

In 1953, during a revival meeting at the Lansing Baptist Church, he met Jesus as his personal Savior. Then in 1954, he and Shirley (pianist with a degree) dedicated themselves to the ministry of music and led revival meetings in Missouri and Kansas. Bob was then licensed to preach in 1957 at the Wilson Avenue Baptist Church in Lansing. Rev. Robert Humphreys pastored Baptist churchs in Raymondville (where he was ordained in 1958), Macks Creek, Hartville, Covington (Indiana), Camp Branch at Green Ridge, Kahoka, Lebanon, Gainsville, Houstonia and Fayette. During his pastorates, he attended Southwest Baptist College, Moody Bible Institute and Rhema Bible School.

In September of 1975, Bro. Bob received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. In 1981, he started secular work as a mechanic with employment at Gibson Implement and then at Waterloo Industries.

Bro. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Royal and a brother, Melvin Francis. Survivors include his wife Shirley of 64 years. His children; Dr Carolyn Hefner (Carl) of Ozark, MO, Melvin Humphreys (Pamela) of Springfield, MO and Ruth Ann Betzelberger (Terry) of Overland Park, KS. Nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is his younger sister, Darlen Nohrn (Bob) of New Braunfels, TX. Bob was avid pilot, flying his Cessna to various destinations. He also enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and RV-ing. He was a member of the State Fair Good Sam's Club, in which he and Shirley developed close friendships.

He authored a commentary, Revelation Revealed and the book was published in 2011 detailing his inspirations after a life of Bible study..

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Culver officiating. Internment to follow with Full Military Honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. by V.F.W. Post 2591 at 1:00 P.M.

Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 12, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Erik Dains, Dr. Jody Hefner, Justin Hefner,Tyler Humphreys, Carl Hefner and Terry Betzelberger.
